Iceland America Energy
Iceland America Energy, first geothermal exploration well has reached the depth of 4900 feet out of total of 6600 feet, near Truckhaven in Imperial County CA. The project is expected to provide 49 megawatts of electricity from a geothermal powerplant.
Santa Rosa CA based ThermaSourse, Inc. provides the drilling rig and crew. The casings sections have been drilled and steel casings set, including the 13 3/8 inch. casing set close to 3000’, and cemented. The well is drilled directionally towards the designated target area at 6600’ below the surface and some 1500’ departure from wellhead, and passes through the center of the thermal anomaly defined by previous temperature gradient drilling.
